The pianist Joseph-Maurice Weder was born on 27 March 1988. He has been taught by Prof. Adrian Oetiker at the Musikhochschule Basel since 1999. In 2000, he performed his extremely successful debut in the Tonhalle Zurich with the Südwestdeutschen Philharmonie.
Musical activities: His first CD (euro-classics label) to be available in the shops was launched at the beginning of 2007 and includes a section of a concert of Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto with the Cappella Istropolitana from Bratislava (Slovakia).
The “Neue Luzerner Zeitung” proclaimed about Joseph-Maurice Weder “amazing sovereignty… from crystal-clear play to grand virtuosity.” Already at the age of 20, he played Liszt’s sonata in B flat minor and the last Beethoven sonata Op. 111 in a manner which the press described as “piano playing at top European level.” In summer 2009, he gave his debut with the Sinfonieorchester Basel conducted by Daniel Klajner in the Grossen Musiksaal of the Stadt-Casinos Basel.
